BABIES

A week ago while having lunch with friends one mentioned that she had an e-mail containing pictures of a bobcat and her two babies. The amazing thing about the pictures are that the bobcat and babies were on the roof of a condo in Arizona. There is a tree that overhangs and they were able to get up and down via the tree. Here are some pictures.

MALLARDS

Over the past several weeks I have been observing the mallards. One female did have a flock of ducklings. She seems to hatch them near our yard but then they swim off to another location and grow up there. However there is another female that is being harassed by up to three male mallards. One day I noticed that she was very low in the grass and actually was crawling through the grass. I thought that she might be injured but silly me - she was merely hiding from some males. Once they spotted her she took off at a run and they chased her. This year I have also noticed the males fighting. I try to take pictures but they usually cease once I get in postition. I have a few with the male chasing the female. It has been hilarious watching these birds. It is no wonder that I am getting nothing done around the house. There is too much entertainment outside.

STORMS

Wow! There have really been a lot of storms. Yesterday we were down with the grandkids. We went down for kindergarten Pet Day. We took our granddog to school and then the plan was to go to Miss Em's tee-ball game. We did go to the game and saw 2 innings (there are normally three). We spotted lightening in the distance and the coaches called the game. We left straight from the field. As we were leaving we found out that we were about 15 minutes ahead of the storm. As soon as we were on I-75 the local radio station switched to the TV station and we listened to the continuous coverage for about an hour. There was a tornado warning with 2" hail. We were very fortunate and managed to stay ahead of and below all of the storms. We missed them all. While JR drove I was watching the clouds behind us to see if and twisters touched down. We did notice all of the standing water in the fields and drainage ditches as we drew close to home. Just so much rain. Luckily so far no twisters.

WEEKLY REVIEW

Last Saturday as stated in the last blog we celebrated a friend's 50Th anniversary. Congrats to them. Sunday we were with our son, daughter-in-law and grandkids celebrating Mother's Day/Grandson's 10Th birthday. The Rabbit Wrangler has a new rabbit. It is a Lionhead rabbit. It is a small rabbit and a show rabbit - not a meat pen rabbit. His is white and is only a couple of months old. When grown it will have a "mane" around the head. The name it came with is Prince Charming and so it is PC for short. We drove down mid afternoon and came back that evening. JR's dad came with us and seemed to have a great time. Wednesday was golf and I survived. I played OK considering it has been 7 months since I last yielded a club. The rest of the week was quiet.

MILESTONES

Over the past couple of weeks we have helped several people celebrate milestones. One was a 50th birthday, one a 50th wedding anniversary and the last was our grandson's 10th birthday. The first was a rockin' good time. The second was a more subdued classy party with lots of family and close friends. Both were fun and we felt honored to be included. Our grandson turns 10 today although we celebrated yesterday. His milestone is moving from a child to a pre-teen. I could almost see a change in him. He was all smiles yesterday. Granted he got his pet rabbit for his 4H project yesterday but even putting that aside, he was in good humor and smiled the whole day and he has the best smile. JR's dad went with us again (he was with us when we celebrated our granddaughter's birthday as well) and seemed to have a good time.

It is nice to see sunshine and the azaleas and dogwood are beginning to bloom. Life looks good today.

CONCERT

Earlier in my one of my blogs, I was complaining about not being able to go to the Tim McGraw concert here in town. Well JR decided to get me a ticket to the concert for our anniversary and I went along with a good friend. It was a great concert and I was glad to have gone. There were some things that bothered me about the way he performed but overall I loved being there. I do love live music, live theatre etc. I am blessed this season to be going to some great concerts. Upcoming is the last installment of this season's Pops concert, the Glee concert and Keith Urban. All should be tons of fun. Last year we also went to a couple of the local Thursday night "concerts" in the local park. We took our chairs, picked up something to eat and spent an enjoyable evening. Hopefully we will do that again this year.
